rupp speedometer

i just picked up a rupp speedometer for $10 at a swap today but it doesn't work. i need to remove the glass but i think it is held on by some sort of adhesive. is there anything i can do to loosen it up?

the picture is of the NOS rupp speedometer i have not of the one i just got, but you get the idea

You might have to some how pry off the metal retaining ring around the glass. I'm guessing that the metal ring is pressed on to hold the glass in place. Let us how you did it and good luck.

i did have to pry the chrome ring up but that wasn't enough so i had to crack the glass and get all the pieces out which wasn't a big deal considering the glass was already shattered. after that it just took a little tinkering and grease for it to start working again. so now all i need is a new piece of glass and then it will be just like new. ill post a pic soon
