Sandblasting & Powdercoat Quote FAIR?

#1
Just got a quote of $450.00 to have 2 frames, 2 fenders, 2 handlebar/fork assemblies blasted and powder coated {same color on both}. Is that a fair price? Thanks in advance...

Depends if it's a specilty color or just a basic one ?.seams a little high .
We usually spend 100.00 to 150.00 for everything for all the parts for one bike for a basic color

This topic always blows me away. I know a guy in upstate NY that gets his bikes done for a average of $150 and I got a quote of $350 here in S Central PA..

Seems like large price spreads, I've seen guys post here, anywhere from 100-500...

I realize it's for our enjoyment and people are free to spend their money however they see fit but I just can't see spending that kind of money for a finish when Wal-Mart has paint for $0.97 a can. Maybe some day I'll see the light and have it done. It sure looks good.

I just dropped off a pack mule frame to be done in one color for $80, including the sandblasting. The guy said he would normally do it for $100 or more, but gave me a price break.

Depends on the part of the country, in CO that's pretty close to the going rate I think.

Everytime I see prices around TX or the north they seems more reasonable.

Like many others have already said...the color can have a drastic impact on price. A basic color like yellow, red, black with clear coat for a whole mini bike is usually around 125-175 ish.

BUT, if you go to a candy color with a metallic base coat and clear coat etc...you could easily be in the 300 range or sometimes more...

Sand blasting a frame is a PITA for sure... easily worth 75.00-100.00, powder coating depends on colors and how busy the coated is... mine was only about 40.00 for two colors, but it took about a month to get it done.

The biggest problem with walmart paint is, it looks like a $0.97 paint job.....
