I like how you got the paint down to the original color layer....how did you do that ? hand sanding, wire wheel ?

And how long did it take to do the sanding ?

Thanks Johnny, and keep up the good work !

Nice bike Johnny, I'm a big Roper fan myself. You can also get a nice replica sticker for the round center of the front end plate from Gonzalo (Peewee) Curiel.

I sprayed paint remover and let sit. Not all that much. Then took steel wool and kind off pushed it off. Took me a Saturday afternoon.

I forgot to meantion that after I got the tank from George3 in LA and went home to happily slap it on to see how utterly cool it looked, it didn't fit. It was then I realized I had the model of Roper that didn't use this tank setup. LOL. I traveled 3000 miles for an unnecessary part. Is that some kind of record? But heck... I'm gonna reach down... between my legs... and ease the seat back.. baybay!

Cut the rusty fender bolts off and 3 out of 4 shocks are working now. Debating on a media blasting and repaint or simply give it a couple of coats of yellow over what's there.

Took the wheels and new tires to my local Yamaha dealer at the suggestion of a friend. They couldnt do it. They gave me the name of another place. I've never bought new minibike tires but these look so much narrower. Yet they are the correct size. I'll take it to the tech forum.

Wow that chrome did come out MUCH better, PB Blaster and steel wool, thanks for the tip, I'll try that on my Roper. With your chrome coming out that much better I may just keep the one I'm trying to sell! What wheel/tire sized is original ? Mine has a 5" in the front and 6 " rear, two piece white wheels. I'm told they are newer and they are nice but at speed the small front wheel and "ape Hanger" style bars are a little dicey. Gotta lean more than turn into the bends I guess. Like the chopper guys.

They are 6 " with 410/310 -6 tires. Thanks yes the chrome came back nice. Although its not perfect. Got pits. I can live with it. Looks authentic. Lol.

Dropped rims and new tires off at Long Island Power Equipment yesterday. I'll pick em up next weekend.
