Wanted to use a new B&S engine on an ARCO so that I could keep the gas tank on the engine. Picked up a B&S 525 series because height was good to fit in frame. Screwed up and didn't consider how the carb was mounted on the engine. It has an intake that sets the carb down low right into my rear tire. If I take the air cleaner mount and air cleaner off I have about 1 to 1.5 inches of clearence. Does anyone make an after-market air cleaner that might work in this space? Can add a smaller profile rear tire and pick up another 0.5 inch but I think that is all I can gain and still use the rear scrub brake.
Will the engine run properly if the breather line and vent from gas tank aren't connected to the carb?
