Tecumseh Engine Question Help Needed ASAP

First can you use a compression tester for a car to acurately measure the compression of a Tecumseh OHV 5HP.

If so what would be the proper way to check it? IE how many times to pull the cord for an accurate reading?

One last thing, what would be an "acceptable' number for the engine to read?

Thanks alot in advance, Im having an issue with a motor and dont want to get screwed..

With information I gathered compression should be somewhere bewteen 70 and 100 on a stock engine, a good range would be 80 or above...

5 pulls should be effecient to get a pretty accurate reading
