Tecumseh HM80 weak spark?

Check the flywheel magnets as OldMiniBikes member chrisr has suggested.
Check the air gap between the flywheel and the coil (should be set to .0125")

Did you make sure you torque the flywheel down to the 52ft lbs required?? Make sure your flywheel key isn't broken. This can make the spark off, weak or non-existent.

Also unbolt the coil, place a business card between the coil and flywheel, then bolt down the coil tight and rotate the flywheel to take out the business card. Your flywheel gap is now set.

I'm pretty sure the HM80 came with points early on, and then they switched to a transistorized electronic ignition coil, I would see if you can upgrade to a electronic ignition coil and ditch the points.

Or you can install a Nova 2 transistor chip to convert to electronic ignition, you can use your same coil. The points and condense is eliminated with the chip.

I like points because they create strong spark at low RPM's and are pretty reliable, a electronic ignition coil is very reliable but the spark isn't quite as strong at low RPM's, but it isn't a issue really.

Since I posted this I have not had a chance to make it out to the garage unfortunately. As soon as I do I will start trying everyone's suggestions. Thanks guys.
