Torque convertor and header on doodlebug???

I don't know if the torque converter will fit in your frame, but it IS designed to give you a LOT more low end torque, and a bit more top speed.

In the '90s we ran Comet "torq-a-verters" which worked well but we ended up wearing them out. A mini-chopper with a stock 3.5 HP Tecumseh would flip over backwards if you weren't sitting towards the front when you took off. My brother had one on his K&S Hornet with a 5HP Tecumseh and it was the same way.

The way they work, the front pulley starts out small and the back one starts out large. This is the low ratio for low end torque. At higher RPM, the front pulley clamps together, making the belt ride higher in the pulley, effectively making the pulley bigger. The back pulley does the opposite. It widens, and makes the belt sink down inside of it, effectively making the pulley smaller, thus making a higher gear ratio for top speed.
