Weatherproofing Wicker Chairs? How?

My wife has 2 wicker chairs that she would like to put on the deck.
She does not want to alter to color.
What can be done to keep rain from ruining them?
I have an air compressor and can get a spray gun.

There are suggestions on the web but I thought someone here might have 1st hand experience.

I ve had good luck with Thompsons Water Sealer, it'll work OK on painted surfaces. You can put it on with a cheap pump up sprayer.

I've done the tung oil like this suggests, worked well.

I ve had good luck with Thompsons Water Sealer, it'll work OK on painted surfaces. You can put it on with a cheap pump up sprayer.

We went to Home Depot and bought Thompsons clear and a cheap pump sprayer.
The stuff was too thick to spray, would only steam out.
so I put it in my good sprayer with the same result.
The wife just brushed it on.

I had read about toung oil, flipped a coin and went with Thompsons.
