You had better luck than we did. I used one to go from 1/2" to 5/8" and it went dull after doing only one hole. (Yes, I did go slow speed with oil and periodically cooling the bit in cold water)

I just use mine to drill out holes through material no more than 1/8" thick. The ones I have rip through like butter and I have had them (3 of them) for about a year now. Sorry yours didn't work out so well for you.
