jimh,i wonder if the shocks come apart little different. my columbia minibike shocks look like any 70's vintage shocks and on them you have to unthread the lower eyebolt from the black tube and then go in with a socket extension and unbolt the nut and then it all comes apart.:thumbsup:
or maybe you can try this:hack:

I compressed the spring and the cap comes down, but theres no way to take the cap off. I will try to see if the bottom eyebolt comes loose. please send more helpfull info.

I checked the set I have and they screw apart. I'm slipping, should have been obvious. The eyebolt is silver and the shock is black:doah: You might want to lightly heat the black part. Looks pretty soft and easily damaged.

hey 1badgixxer3555, here are couple pictures of a 70's vintage shock
you see how the bottom is threaded on and then you have to go into the black tube to unbolt a nut(with spring) and then everything comes apart:thumbsup:
BE CAREFULL THE BLACK TUBE(METAL)CAN BE SOFT,EASY TO DAMAGE
