Better Deal? NEW DB30 or Used Murray

So, I wanted to buy my 11 yr old son an "old" style Doodle Bug for Christmas but all the stores locally have is the new style. Yesterday I bought the "new" style for $277 OTD. I've read all the horror stories about the 97cc stock motor on the DB and the reccomandations to either get the jack shaft or upgrade to the 6.5 Honda clone.

Today I found this stock Murray for an asking price of $300. I feel certain I can get it for $250....maybe $200:shrug: See questions under pictures:

Its going to be cold here on Christmas day and dont want to spend it in my shop working on the DB. Whats your opinion on the better deal? Keep the new DB30 for $277 or go with the used Murray for lets say $250?

Also are there any major issues with the Murray model that you may know about?

that 3.5 Tec is better than the piece of shit 2.8 that comes in the Doodlebugs.

i wouldn't pay more than $150 for the Murray, even that's pushing it.

if you search on here, you will find plenty of people that have done minor things to the 2.8 to make it more reliable/perform better.

I would go with the Murray, it's a substantial machine.
