Cleaning a Badge

#1
I have a Bonanza badge that one of the previous owners coated with a
generous layer of rattle can paint and need to clean it up for use on
a project.

My concern is that some paint strippers may be a solvent for the red
badge printing. Who's done this before and what cleaners did you use?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

I used easy off oven cleaner on this one:

It was completly painted over with some primer and the red:

I didnt walk away form it and let it sit as I was afraid of what might happen, I did lightly scratch the paint up and kept working it while the easy off was wet o there.

I used easy off oven cleaner too. It does need to be the name brand "easy off" and it should be in the yellow can. A no name off brand will not work as good. I use it to strip spray bomb off of motorcycles from the 40's & 50's and it always works perfectly as long as you pay close attention. It is much easier to control than lacquer thinner and acetone. Just my personal experience.

This is one of my easy off projects. The motorcycle had chrome sheet metal with red spray paint. We did it in sections to have better results. I know it is not paint underneath, but still shows that it works.
