Correct length Aftermarket Bonanza rear shocks

#1
After buying several different sets of shocks (and ended up using the originals, for project repo), I found some that were the length I wanted to use 9 3/4" eye to eye...

most of them sold are 12" eye to eye, which some people prefer...

anyhow, a close friend asked me to work on his mini bike and get a few things squared away prior to him having it painted...

found these at BMI Karts and they are replacement shocks for a yerfdog

they were $50 shipped for two

although they appear as if they will work perfect, i have not installed them yet, so will report back, as soon as i weld the tubing on and install them...

these are not factory replacement shocks

I think you can get shocks with the eye to eye size your looking for and still have a shock that will give you a comfortable ride. The Italian made shocks come in sizes that should work good and give you comfort too.
did a bit of searchin before ending up with these... do you happen to have a link

These are a fuzz bigger @ 10-1/2" eye to eye but they would give a way better ride.

Honda Z50 Z50A Z50R A Pair of New Rear Shock | eBay
Has anyone used these? I need a set of rear shocks for a BC1200 I`m doing too. I`ve already spent way to much so i was hoping to use the two un-broken springs in the fork and get a set of shocks for the rear.
I`m under 200pds and want the suspension to work, looks like some springs seem way to stiff.

In same dilemma. Except I am 275lbs.
Seems the Honda Z50 shocks are better suited for kids. Most shocks are 12" eye to eye but I heard it will raise back too much.
There is a shock on ebay thats 9.5" long. And 550 lb/in. Seems like a hood option.

Based om what I have read the original shocks were 10" long in the rear. But they were designed for the weight of kids.

There are shocks out there in 8"( variety) , 10" (limited to 550 lbs/im)) and 12" (450, 650 & 750 lbs/in)
- based on posts above the 12" can raise rear causing more of a rake (till I put my fat $#$% on it).
- too high lbs/in will not allow for any travel do to being overly stiff
- there is actually a 12" shock out there that has 750 lbs/in and 3" of travel (rather than typical 2.4") …. but I think that will be too stiff.
- there is an 8" shock available also with 550 lbs/in which I think is best option yet. Just want to make sure will not bottom out simply with my weight.

Anyone have any first hand experience with this?

Thanks guys

True. I also assume you must figure in the rear weight distribution of minibike (figuring 75% of total weight?) and likely 80-85% of my body weight since some of my weight arms/legs will be supported more towards the front suspension. Guess armed with this info I should be able to make an educated guess.

What is the general thought….. regarding shock length?

The Honda Z50 shocks he recommended above come in a stock spring compression (his link) which will likely be better for guys under 200lbs. However, they also have what they call a Performance Honda Z50 shock that has a progressive rate spring better suited for adults. I shared it with the member that posted above and waiting to get his recommendation. I will go with what he recommends since it seems he has some experience with these.
