H50 valve guide question

Hi, I have a new later model H50 short block. The intake, valve guide looks like it wasn't pressed down all the way, and will not help keep the valve spring cap centered. The exhaust looks correct. Funny thing is the old block was the same way. I have punch that looks just like the Tecumseh valve stem tool. I used it on the old block with some heat and copper washers and it sat the guide with no problem. Do you think I should press the intake valve guide to match the exhaust valve guide on the new block? Or did they install it that way for a reason? Thanks, mike

Hi Manta, I just pulled the carb off one of my hs40 to check for ya and the guide is in fact pressed down flush. I would use your method and push the guide down. Good luck Hope this helps. Dave

Thanks for the input. I bought it new so i wouldnt have to mess with it, so much for that theory.
