Having trouble removing bearings from aluminum mag

#1
Like a big dummy:doah: I didn't take them out before I got them blasted. Now they have grit in them . The very first one I tried to get out is giving me fits. Trail horse alum mag. I have tried my old stand by method of using a deep well socket from behind and punching them through with a rubber mallet , but it is not budging. I am afraid I am gonna crack the wheel half if I keep it up. Any suggestions ????

I would lightly heat the Aluminum with a pluming torch to expand the wheel hub from the bearing.

Use a real hammer, your not saving the bearing.

The rim sits face down flat and is supported around the whole rim leaving about 3/8" for the bearing to come loose. I put in some oil to let it soak in. but was afraid to use heat because I didn't want to discolor the rim seeing how they are only getting cleared

The heat will not discolor the wheel, Aluminum does not discolor like steel will.

Remember, I said a pluming torch, not a cutting torch.
