update: painting the tank
Yesterday after work I decided to start on the tank..well, first I was contemplating between a few different ideas for it.. Chrome, black or match the bike, then one day when I was tryin to figure out how to mount it, the idea hit me! This tank already resembles a can of food, so why not make it a can of ENCHILADA SAUCE! what better to power an enchilada then some hot enchilada sauce right?....
It wad already primed and wet sanded, ready for the base coat.. so I sprayed it with a silver base.. urethane base dries quick so 20 minutes later I was ready for the art work..
First was masking off the ends to separate the can from the "lable". Then I didn't dig the sides being so plain, they needed to look as if they had raised circles like normal food cans do. So I taped some circles in and fogged in some shadows and highlights to resemble the look.. here are a few pics of that..
After that, it was on to the lable.. I masked the whole tank and started sketching ideas on it, then settled on putting Steen's enchilada sauce with a pic of enchiladas underneath it.. I cut out the section for the enchiladas and got to work(sorry I didn't take pics of that). I just free handed some quick ones that hopefully resemble enchiladas:laugh:.. then I remasked that area.. I cut the outline of the steens lettering but instead of removing the letters I left the mask over them and removed all the masking from the rest of the lable.. after I fogged in some colors I removed all the tape and started outlining everything..
All it needs now is clear coat, the clear will make it pop more and the colors in the enchiladas will look more 3D (darker colors will sink in and brighter colors will pop out more).. clear coat will go on within a few days and should be on the bike soon after:smile:
Should look pretty funny on the bike, but I think it will give it some character:laugh: thanks again for checking it out:thumbsup:
