Looks like what I was trying to describe Mark. Clip snaps onto the brake arm and is between the shoe and attaching bolt thus holding the shoe closest to the tire at the bottom. Very cool that you had this picture and that there is a second one of these arms. I really need to check my Roper as well.

Great photo! Anybody thinking about reproducing these? A LOT of Bird Engineering bikes came with this style brake pad/shoe.

Finally got around to this today and I see I did it just as above. Took some instructional shots. And yes I had offered a few posts ago to make copies but only if enough were interested.

Had to take the bolt and pad out first as this clip is shaped in a way that it was impossible to get down into position with it on. Thats what SHE said! Har!

It works! Look at that super springing action just lift the top of the pad away from the dangers of that mean ol' tire, with its super spinning action. Ah the mysteries of the spring. Will we ever know how it really works? But anyway, I am very satisfied with this product. Minibikes!
