Stangrcr1's Open class TH/TB

A tale of two fenders...

I only have one original TH/TB fender. And it has been welded in 4 places. It will work, after a lot of bodywork. Problem is I needed a second fender for the rear.

I had a beat up DB fender laying around and started looking hard at it...

Similar profile and about 3/8" wider than the TH fender. Hmmm.

So what if I bend the edges in further, cut it to size, etc...????

Here is the fender I ended up using. Thanks LCS!

As you can see the curve of the fender is close.

First order of business, weld up the holes, since this is a front fender...

Then take some thick washers and weld them to the edge of the fender where the TH tabs would be...

And here it is after grinding.

Still have to strip all the paint off and do the bodywork. I am happy with how this looks as it is very close to the original, and as an added benefit, the steel on the DB fender is thicker than the TH fender. Should last longer.

Here I sit wetsanding and contemplating what color to make this bike.

Suggestions?

Not pink...:hammer:

Motor will probably be Duplicolor Low Gloss Black engine enamel....

Anyone know what original colors were available for a Trail Blazer?

I just looked through the pics in the Trail Horse pic album and green kinda stood out to me. But I do like a nice medium dark metallic blue... Too much dark with the black motor? Then again, motor is not painted yet and I do have silver engine enamel...

I was driving home from work tonight and saw a newer lifted Jeep that was painted a Burnt Orange metallic. It kind of changed from brown to orange in the sunlight. Looked awesome.

Very close to this:
