If you have a removable / replaceable spark plug cap, try trimming a quarter inch of the old plug wire away and then reinstall the plug cap. Check the cap for high resistance. It could be on the verge of failing if much more than 10,000 ohms or so on a resistor cap. Plain caps should have only a few ohms of resistance at most.
Run the points gap to the minimum. Yes, it might require adjustment more often but the points stay closed longer prior to opening thus saturating the coil with electricity longer to provide a stronger spark.
Your coil could be losing that lovin' feelin'. In other words, the enamel insulation on the internal wire windings may be breaking down giving your coil some internal (but incomplete) shorts that rob it of performance.
