What held the switch plate on a Cat?

I made a switch plate for my Cat,just like the original,it was just ahead of the seat.I just can't remember what held it on there in the first place.Mine was just a narrow piece of aluminum,but I've seen others that that looked to be 6 or more inches long.

Thanks,That looks like the switch plate I had originally.I've found some that were 6 inches long or more,and tapered to fit the frame but that is not what I had on the bike when new.I can make a piece easily enough like that to sandwich between the switch body and plate.I think mine got water in it early on and shorted out,so it got removed,it is probably on a shelf somewhere around here.We have so many sheds,garages,and cellars in the clan here we lose whole motorcycles and cars for years at a time.
