Is there a way to ID Tecumseh engines without the ID tag? I bought a Rupp with the tag missing from the engine.

I just picked up a 3 1/2 HP (Marked 8 on head) but there is no numbers on the fan shroud anywhere is there anyway to tell year and model number from different changes thru out the years? I'll take pictures tommorrow it was dark before I got home. Scott
