Help! Trying to find numbers on my Raptor

#1
 I am new here, I really need some help, no not that kind !!!! Anyway bought this Raptor can't find where the model or I.D. numbers are on this motor. It is a 5hp, I'm sure of that, Not sure of year it was made. The only thing I can tell you is the decal on the fan shroud Says " Briggs and Stratton Motorsports". The decal has yellow background. Of course on the shrowd it has a round decal with the 5hp. Any ideas ?
Thanks

Numbers

I need to find a camera. Believe it or not don't have one. I shoot 35 mm. Anyway checked blower cover, unless there is an inch of paint I see no indention at all from numbers. Also checked shielding on top and side of motor. Nope! I read somewhere Briggs used a stick on tag for an I.D. plate on top side of cover. Not sure if they done this on a Raptor. That's where I'm at so far Fellas........

Why does the block look repaired? Is it me?

As soon as I opened the side view of the lower block, I thought repaired....

Well, you can build a Briggs Raptor from replacement parts and that's what alot of used Raptors are built from today. Most racers bought new Raptor motors and replace parts when needed. So it's unlikely you will find a used briggs raptor with all original parts on it unless it's New Old Stock (NOS).

Oh...and all OEM Briggs Raptors had serial number plates on the front of the flywheel shroud.

Repair ?

Are you talking about the cover side? If so I need to get back out in the shop and take cover off to look. I secured the cover wright after the pictures were shot. No offence here, I'm hoping your wrong.:mad2: I didn't think of looking there, no tools with me either. I did hear it run before I bought it and looked at it afterwards no oil anywhere. It runs GREAT! Thanks for your input I'll look at it tomorrow.

If the engine block has a governor hole in the block behind the gas tank it is NOT a Raptor. The Raptor motor had no Governor not even a hole in the block for a governor.

The side view, not the side cover. Looks to me like a rod went through the side...

Kinda like a Wolf did...

Update Mission Raptor

Well early this morning (I'm retired) I took off the side case. Couldn't find a crack , still stumped. However did find an ARC rod! The guy if he built it used a lot of Raptor parts, down to the pull start. I seen the two holes for the on/off switch. Carb is Raptor, head is Raptor. Next I am going to mic the valves and piston. The flywheel in the pictures is not aftermarket it's not aluminum. My conclusion is if he did indeed build a 5hp block he spent to much time and money. Could have just bought a Raptor block added the parts? I don't know? .For what I'm going to use the motor for again I'm retired, is riding around, race it once in awhile, show it. I spent a lot of time in painting the frame, flaming the fenders and chain guard. And buying a motor with some balls! Thanks to all if anyone wants to add some more opinions, I read everything and think about everything I'm told. OH I would like to thank OldMiniBikes for turning me on to this forum- it's cool! I will me reading on and asking questions

Opps forgot

I forgot, I wanted to give a little background if I may. I was playing with these things when I was 12 years old. Back then I was polishing my own heads and jetting carbs, stuff like that. Then the evil working for a living  Picked it back up after I retired  That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :1orglaugh: Regards

Air cleaner

I want to put an open element air cleaner on this so called Raptor. The hole size is roughly 1 1/4 inches across. Anyone know where I can find one to fit?
