Just checking to see if any other members work for Chrysler and what you think about our future???
After 25 years at Jeep and now this :censure:
With all the consessions, now the bankrupcy crap that our good ole president :thefinger:forced Chrysler into we still don't have any gaurantees that we will even have a job when the smoke clears..

You didn't see the govt force any banks to file bankrupcy, fug nooo, they just handed them all the money they wanted....

I'm not saying the govt should keep giving Chrysler money but we gave up $10,000 a year in concessions,(holidays, bonuses, vacation time, ect) plus we gave up all kinds of other things and then the day all this was due obama forces them to file.... so now we gave all this up and were out of work anyways..

Sorry for the rant, just had to vent a little I guess...

I know how you feel. For for 30 years I never had a clue if I would still have a job in a month. And back then I didn't have an Obama to save me if things went south. He said just the other day that there was nothing to worry about.

Well if that's what he said just kick back and relax.:doah: The liberal freak educators had all the children wound up over him during the election. My Daughter was coming home daily with updates and campaign b/s. I told her that he will either be the greatest president ever or he is the Antichrist. And after his first 100 days I have drawn the conclusion that's he's full of crap. He jumped in and picked some low hanging fruit and that was it. How, what will ultimately be a larger government is going to fix things I'll never know? And the stimulus b/s in my opinion is only helping those that either don't need it or refuse to help themselves. So where dose that leave the other 80%. Nothing will change, ever.
The only way to fix it is to completely clean house and either appoint or have honest elections where you can put Jim the barber on the ticket, just some normal folks. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I honestly believe that normal people like you and me could make much sounder decisions then the morons we have doing it for us. I'm not smart enough to get into any type of debate over this, I'm just voicing my opinion. But I really don't understand what happened? But some off my solutions would work, but I'm sure it would piss off some bleeding heart libs. And a few country's. But at some point enough is enough. Ted Nugent is a nut but he has some great points. And there are others as well. But I think it's high time for us Americans to grow some balls....

I couldn't agree more. My Obama dig was just in jest. And yes, that is the broad thrust of the limp-wrested liberal Obama Manifesto. It basicly says that if you historicly refuse to help yourself and enter mainstream society [those folks that have tried to keep the system from working] then the answer should be to tax the hell out of everyone else [those folks that have made the system funtion] to make things FAIR for all [technically that's called communism]. What the idiot socialist liberals don't want to understand is that the word "fair" is only used in childrens games and liberal politics.

Bullshit.... I have had 2 Buick 3.8 supercharged regals that have went over 200k with nothing more than maintenance. My wife's Dodge Srt-4 is pushing over 300hp on stock internals and is right at 90k and has been dead reliable.

Even in the late 80s and early 90s my Parents had Chevy Corsica's that went well over 200k miles with nothing but bad water based paint to bitch about..

I don't work for them, but just bought a truck from them, and I'd better get more than 50,000 miles before I have an issue:hammer::hammer:. And it is a sad fact that Americans with balls are grossly outnumbered by those who don't.

Not sure what planet you just fell off of:thefinger:, we had a 88 dodge van with almost 200k before my friend bought it and drove the piss out of it, my son has a 99 sebring vert with over 120k with nothing done other than normal maintence stuff, my wife has a 98 caravan with over 100k, no major problems, my brother has a 96 Breeze with over 170k, still runs stong, we had a pontiac sunbird with over 130k before my son let it over heat to to a leak, a buddy at work has a 92 chevy p.u with a v6 that has over 270K before the eng got weak, he put a new eng in it and still drives it at over 300K on the truck itself....Don't give me that BullShit that we Americans can't build a good car, we just need cars with better mileage and even that is not gonna help much now with everyone out of work, your precious toyota company had almost a 50% sales drop, they are laying off too so I guess they must not build a good car either or they'd be selling like hot cakes right now!!!!.. I wouldn't let a POS jap crap park in front of my house..... If it wasn't for the greedy bastards with the banks and oil companys all this mess would not have happened, we were selling strong until last spring when gas went over $4 a gal and the banks started jacking the rates and peoples mortgages.......

I have to admit, my second choice was Toyota. They do make good vehicles, but the Dodge dealer did a lot better on discounts. My wife got rearended last week, and I was hoping they totalled her car, so she could get a Magnum wagon, but no such luck.

The Swedes and Germans build the best cars tough. (No flame suit.)

Buy American!
Well, you can try. But with so many components coming from different vendors, sometimes the best you can do is "assembled in America". And it not just here, either. I bought a new Canon Camera recently. The Camera says "Made in Japan", but the lens cap says "China" on the bottom. Who knows where all the different parts inside the camera were manufactured. My '09 Jeep Liberty has a tag that says "60% US/Canadian Components".

Personally I think American cars need better styling and they were way way behind adopting new technologies. I work for an automotive supplier and when some of the German guys would come over they would just laugh at the technology still in use here.

I have an 89 Mustang and an 07 Subaru Impreza, just the 2.5i no turbo fart cannon crap and I like both of them. Charger, Challenger, Mustang, Corvette all look great but I don't need another V8 to drive to work.

Quite frankly I couldn't find an American made car with AWD, 170HP 4 cylinder, with the options I got for $21k out the door. That includes a moon roof, normal looking spoiler, premium sound, fog lights and some other small options. Ride height is excellent and felt very comfortable.

Of course if I had about 50-100 grand laying around and another car to drive everyday, I'd get me a nice new Shelby GT500, Ford GT or a Tesla :D

Good marketing is an art form! :eek:ut:

I'm only 50, but I haven't owned a foreign-badged car... ever!

My wife's currently driving a 2006 Ford Escape with just over 50,000 miles and no issues, while I'm driving a 2008 Ford Focus... bought when I was still commuting 70 miles one-way for work. Before that were a couple Ford Rangers, and the wife's Mustang GT. The Rangers were both over 100,000 when traded, and neither had given any trouble.

I agree many components are out-sourced but there's not much you can do...

Another thing I just don't understand is if we build somethinghere and export it to another country we get socked with import/export taxes but a foreign company can bring stuff in all day long to the U.S and not have to pay import taxes.... Thats why alot of U.S companys here send thier jobs to Mexico, China ect, build them with cheaper labor and not have to pay any taxes to bring them back here, that is just wrong on so many levels....

When I hired in at Jeep in 1984 we were building our own seats, wiring harnesses, stamping all our body panels, assembling the engines, wheels and tires, building the gas tanks and skid plates ect ect.... now we are strictly assembly, we don't make anything any more... The engines come in all assembled, front suspension is all together, just bolt that in, wheels come in with the tires on them, seats come in done,,,,,, we have lost in the last 25 years over 6000 jobs at Jeep here in Toledo.... This city has lost so many big businesses to foreign countrys it's sickening.... Jeep and GM Power Train are the last two big companys left here.... if Chrysler and GM go under this part of Ohio and Mich will be ghost towns and an estimated 1,000,000+ people associated with these two across the U.S will be out of work.. and then the trickle effect begins with resturants, stores, dealerships, hotels ect...

So all I can say to all those who keep saying let us fail and go under take a look at your job and friends and family members that are somehow linked to the automotive Industry and how it will effect them if we fold up....

" If you want to drive a foreign car move to a foreign country"

Opening our markets was compensation for abandoning the Gold Standard for our currency.

Times past we convinced the world our currency would always be backed up by Gold in the Treasury... when we started printing more money than we had Gold, the world was ready to abandon our currency as the World Standard... we promised access to the American Consumer to prevent that. Of course, our currency has never been worth less on the world market than it is today!

The Challenger is awesome but for the Hemi version after tax and all the other bs fees $50K is a tad much....

The vettes are ok but I never really cared for the 82 and newer body style, I like the old skool vettes.... Now if someone was to take a 70 Stingray and intergrate the z06 suspension and driveline into it then that would be awesome...

yeah I can believe that but if we have to pay import taxes so should the rest of the world.... The U.S is always handing out money, food, jobs ect to the whole world but we get are always the ones to get screwed..
