Spring tensioner question

I searched this subject and couldn't find an answer.

I'm going to put a spring tensioner on my Murray. I've got it all mapped out in my head with the exception of one detail....

How strong should the spring be??? I was thinking maybe a kickstand spring, but I really have no idea on how strong it should be.

Any help??

Something like a long screen door spring might be good, cut it to size then shorten till you get the right tension...

Mine had to be stronger than I would have thought....under deceleration the underside of the chain takes on alot of force if there is slack in the chain! Sorry I dont have a # for the spring I used

This spring seems pretty stiff....... untill deceleration.....moves quite a bit but chain has never came off!
