Homemade electric starter... a little cumbersome, but it's an option for engines in which recoil has been removed. Not sure exactly what they set it up for, but I'm sure a handy shopsmith could mod it to work in whatever fashion desired. cables hook up to a standard 12-volt automotive or...
My daughter has a hard time pull starting her 8hp Tecumseh.
I got a 7hp tec with a lighting coil and a starter ring but the bore was shot.
I had a 6hp tec, it was a good candidate. I put in a new piston, rings, lapped the valves, ground the head .030, new carb. The lighting coil...
I finished rebuilding the West Bend 820 on my Chrysler Sno Runner. Both the recoil starters I have do not engage the "Cup", which has many gouges in it. When looking for a replacement cup I saw one advertised as a right hand "Cup". Is there a difference in starter cups on WB right and left...
Thinning out the stuff a little. The older box on the top right has the wrong part number on it FYI, the recoil cover was just in that box when I got it... Everything you see for 50.00 plus shipping (be patient) from 12302 zip in NY or trades for Trail Horse/clone/predator...

I just tuned up a briggs carb 3.5 and it will not start and run without fluid. I'm not good with Briggs. It idles, runs and throttles up fine until it is shut off then wont restart without fluid. What am i missing?

Did a search, nothing ...
I have a mid 70's Heald VT-8 that I would like to add a starter to.
It has the hump in the shroud ...
Is the motor an H80?
Do I need to tap the block?
What starter?
A snow blower starter with the starter button attached would be OK.
Suggestions...
This is the old school aluminum cast pull start with the round blower housing. It has a couple dents, but otherwise in good shape. Like all old Briggs pull starters, this could use a good cleaning! $40.00 shipped lower 48

For those of you with the built up high compression engines. What are you doing to start these things? I just installed my built up briggs 305 onto project K&S and tried to pull start it and it almost took my arm off. Starters are expensive from what I found online. Have any of you DIY one?
Has anyone made their own kick starter? I feel like it would be fairly straightforward, except for the disengagement part. Are there any good pics around of how these are designed? I would like to give it a shot.
Thanks!

This engine runs great and seems to be real low...
This likely wouldn't be too practical on a minibike, but perhaps may be of interest on a go-kart project. Electric starter motor to bolt to the front of a blowerhousing; not sure as to whether it's a universal design, as there's no instructions in the box, but this starter motor utilizes a...
