2016 Windber raffle bike thoughts

#61
Hey Rick I know this one will be just as nice as the last one and will raise even more money!

I dont remember if you did a documentation on the other bike , but a great idea would be some reproduction sales brochures so the winner can display the bike

Keep up the great work

Rob has a great idea here. Would anyone here be able to make or get a copy made of an Arco sales brochure to set next to the bike.

Rick, this is the order form from when they switched to Gokarts & Kits Inc which is dated 9/1985. I'd be happy to send you copies of the order form and pricing if it will suffice.

Rick I dont have a brochure, but I have what I think is the correct full page add from september 1970 Mini bike guide (It is partially colored) it is the same as this one that Jeep2003 had already posted in the photos section except from a different month and it does not have the page number/"mini bike guide" on the lower right corner.

I would be happy to make a full page scan and send it to you, Its in pretty decent shape so it should scan out alright. Looks like the bike you are working on is dead center in the add.

That's the one I was looking for. That is the seat I was thinking it should have. Good deal Mark...

Just got off the phone with Jeff Mihalko and he said the raffle bike fund would be going to the Windber police dept.this year. He was very happy that we all got together and did this again. Even If you didn't help on the raffle build maybe buying a couple extra tickets would be a big help on the raffle bike. Jeff said the police dept.can really use the money. Thanks for everyone's help on this. Rick.

Rick,
will either yourself or Jeff be able to set up a PayPal account for us "too far away to attend" people can buy tickets?

I don't know the first thing about doing something like that. I am not sure if Jeff would be able to either. Would anyone going to windber this year be able to help out on this great idea of an PayPal account for raffle bike.

Or for those without Paypal. You could send a check right to Jeff. I always add a little extra $$ when I send in my application as an "appreciation" fee. Just attach a note for "raffle" or "donation"

Has anyone used Gofundme before? I was windering if we set up an account sooner rather than later. I mean if Jeff has a cause that he supports with funds from the Windber weekend, wouldn't it be easier for some, who may only be able to give a little here and there or who may have gone in the past but can't make it this year to donate? It might be hard for someone to drop a $50 bill in a jar that weekend but might have no poblem giving $10 a month until then.... I think we could donate much more that way and post it on the Windber Mini bike reunion Facebook page. Or even the local Windber area Craigslist.

For the last raffle Buckeye asked me to buy him some raffle tickets and ship him the bike if he won(he would pay shipping) which I did and although he didn't win I bought him his tickets($20 worth) As some of you know I do have the means to ship a bike thru work but it isn't cheap :doah: Just remember that the bike and all of Rick's beautiful work will have to be disassembled and packed up to be shipped to you :doah:
I will make the same offer to anyone who wants real tickets this time  But if you don't want the bike and just want to make a donation to a good cause you could always do that too

If someone did a PayPal or fund account how would the real tickets be issued out to that person. What if someone on here that is going to windber had a roll of tickets and people on here sent them the money either PayPal ,check, money order or had an account for the money to go in and send them the actual tickets. Keep track of money spent on envelopes and stamps and take that out of the fund. This is going to be a big responsibility for someone. Or. Do the who is going to windber poll and people can send money to the people going to buy tickets for them. Like Randy said it would really suck to have to disassemble the bike for shipment. I know I bought tickets for people last year that sent me money for them.

Here's my take on things.
Most people here are not homeless, although my wife threatens to kick me out! We have plenty of toys, and most of us need another minibike like we need a hole in our head. I buy tickets just to see if I COULD win. If I did win, I would donate it back to the charity and perhaps have people bid on it.
It gets way too complicated with someone doing all the buying and assigning. Let's keep this a positive thing!
