Help with kill switch / button

#1
What am i missing here? The chrome button part is spring loaded and springs back nicely. But the part that the wire goes into sits directly on the handlebar and does not ground out. Is there another spring missing?
It was on my 69 roadster.
Help! Thanks.

No Not that I can see missing . Attach the wire to the brass with the screw and assemble switch on the handlebars , attach the other end of wire to the kill wire or post on the motor and when you push down the button it will connect the grounded switch housing to the kill wire connected to the brass post stopping the motor , it works good on my Rupps
