My First Leg Burn

#1
Well I decided to take my blue doodlebug out for spin to drain some of the gas out of the tank because I'm planning on doing some engine work. After my ride, I steered the bike back into the garage backwards. Since the Baja Doodlebug kickstand is on the same side as the Clone recoil cord I had to reach over to put it down. Shortly after doing this I felt a great painful stinging sensation. I now have a little mark from the burn. Oh well, it was my first time and I should always be able to put the kickstand down with my foot and not have to reach over with my hands...

Burns are the worst. I had a kid that was riding a brand new Indian SE 74 and he had never rode a geared bike he started up the hill and the bike bogged down and he went to neutral first instead of 1 st gear and started to roll back down the hill toward me.
I reached out and my forearm went up between the fender and the knobby tire just as he found 1 st gear and it laid a 10 inch long patch of rubber on my arm. Burns alone are bad but the rubber had to come out it was not fun.
I feel for you the burn usually get nasty looking hours later.

one of the reasons that mini bikes died out was because of little dangers like that, people were getting hurt all the time. Well that and the jap mini motorcycles

I've had many burns in my life. The first being a few years ago. I was torch welding in between some other guys that were as well. I wasn't wearing gloves(bad mistake) and the guy next to me let his flame get away from him and burned all of the skin off of my left hand's middle finger. It took about a month to fully heal and it hurt really bad. Another was exactly a week ago. I was weed eating and my right arm rested on the muffler for about 5 seconds before I fuggured out my arm was on fire!!! My skin was completely charred and I know have a nice brand on my arm.:doah:

A mb165 tried to burn me the other day, 2nd time a mini tried to burn me.
Was riding around on some slimy mud trails, made it up this hill and goosed it so the rear would slide around and I could make a sharp turn.. well this time the rear went a bit further than I intended and ended up lying in the mud with the mini on top of me. Was lying in the mud laughing my ass off when I realized the header was burning the :censure: out of my leg. Got out from under the bike quick, if I hadn't been wearing jeans that would have been one ugly burn. Always wear jeans!

Dude is that your mb165?
You've got your header exactly like I want mine to be. Did you buy it or bend it? Will the rear fender still fit with a muffler on the pipe?

I was gonna bend mine to go inside the frame but I'd have to cut a hole in the middle of the fender for the muffler to fit. Pipe is to short.

ouch man, i just got over a nasty burn myself, i was turning my modded db30 around on a slight incline of wet grass, when i gave it a bit too much throttle and i ended up on my butt. the next thing i know, my calf lands squarely on my super hot header pipe. :crying: but minis are totaly worth the burns!!!!

First time I rode my DB with the flathead in it I got myself a nice 6 inch long burn down the length of my wrist. Hurt like hell.
Too many burns to count...

funny story about burns, many years ago [around 1975] I was riding my mini bike in the street on the way to the woods where we used to ride. Instead of pushing the bike the whole way , we would sit side saddle and cruse real slow so that we could jump off and pretend to be pushing it if we saw a cop. Any way this cop stops me for riding in the street, I swore that I was only pushing the bike. He decides to see if the engine is warm and reaches down and grabs the muffler. I can still hear the sizzle when he grabbed it.
