hi i need to know which way the polarity is if anybody knows facing the flywheel as it spins clockwise is it north-south or south-north? got a lil idea up my sleeve ;) cheers

Anybody know if Briggs & Stratton have sleaves for the 5hp flatheads? I have 2 blocks that have siezed due to scoring the cylinder and I want to repair them since I have all the parts to build them back up. I talked to a guy at a mcahine shop and he couldn't help me since it was a small engine.

so i put a briggs ohv 6.5 carb on my 5hp briggs with one of the newer oem plastic mainifolds from the industrial 5hp briggs and it runs ok 1 click on choke but cuts out unless given more throttle with no choke..........:shrug: it could also be that the carb is a little dirty but i have cleaned...

I'm cleaning up an old flat head and want to know how you can tell if the Gov. is hooked up inside the block? After I took off the gas tank and throttle linkage the gov. arm just flops around. If you hold it a certain way then it feels like it pops into a slot and then it won't move? Hows it work?
