How much do machine shops charge on average to mill a head and port/polish the ports? I'm wanting to get some work done on my head but don't want a sticker shock.
In the midst of porting a blue clone head... Is it alright to remove material from the valve guide protruding from the bottom of the intake and exhaust ports? Either cut them flush with the port walls or grind them down some.

Flathead Porting

Ok, so from everything I have read on porting these OHV engines the focus on the intake side is definitely on smoothing the corner short side radius and then grinding down the valve guide that is protruding into the intake. Then smooth things out, but not too much so as to still allow the fuel...
